How long does a USDT TRC-20 transfer take?
Updated October 28, 2026
Short answer: TRON produces a block every 3 seconds, so a USDT (TRC-20) transfer usually appears in a block within a few seconds and becomes final after 19 blocks, about a minute. Through TronTransfer, which first confirms your TRX fee and delegates energy, the median time from submission to the USDT transfer being in a block was 13 seconds over the last 30 days. Exchanges may wait longer before crediting a deposit.
The same timing applies to TRX and every other TRON transaction: a new block every 3 seconds, final after 19. Most “my USDT is taking forever” worries aren't about the TRON network at all. The chain itself is fast; the waiting usually happens before you send (energy and fees) or after it lands (an exchange crediting your deposit).
| Stage | Typical time |
|---|---|
| Transfer included in a TRON block | A few seconds (blocks every 3 s) |
| Final / irreversible (solidified, 19 blocks) | About 1 minute |
| TronTransfer relay: submit → USDT in a block | Median 13 s, 90% within 15 s |
| Exchange credits a deposit | Set by each exchange |
Relay timings are measured on TronTransfer's completed transfers in the last 30 days (783 transfers). They include confirming your fee transaction and delegating energy before the USDT transfer is broadcast.
How to check where your transfer is
Copy the transaction ID (TxID) from your wallet and paste it into a TRON explorer such as explorer.trontransfer.com or Tronscan. You'll see one of three things:
- SUCCESS: the USDT has arrived at the recipient address. If an exchange hasn't credited it yet, the delay is on their side.
- Failed (for example OUT_OF_ENERGY): nothing moved; see why a failed transfer still costs TRX.
- Not found: the transaction never reached a block, usually because it expired. Nothing was sent; you can try again.
Why an exchange can take longer
Exchanges credit deposits on their own schedule: they may wait for extra confirmations, process deposits in batches, or hold a deposit that arrived on the wrong network or without a required memo. If the explorer shows SUCCESS to the exchange's deposit address, contact their support with the TxID.

Frequently asked questions
How many confirmations does a TRC-20 transfer need?
A TRON block is irreversible once it is solidified, which takes 19 confirmations (19 blocks, about 57 seconds). Exchanges set their own rules and some wait longer before crediting a deposit.
Why hasn't my exchange credited my USDT yet?
Check the transaction ID on a TRON explorer. If it shows SUCCESS and the right recipient, the transfer is done on-chain and the delay is on the exchange's side: confirmation rules, deposit processing, or a missing memo or wrong network. Contact the exchange's support with the transaction ID.
Can a USDT transfer on TRON be stuck pending?
Not for long. A TRON transaction carries an expiry time, usually about a minute after signing. It either gets into a block or expires and is dropped, in which case nothing was sent. A transaction can also be in a block but failed, for example with OUT_OF_ENERGY; an explorer shows which.
